Cinematic close-up (macro) of an elderly artisan’s hands, weathered and textured, holding a fine chisel against a piece of wood. Dust particles float in a shaft of warm sunlight. The focus is entirely on the hands and the tool. Black and white or sepia tone for a timeless feel. 8K resolution.

In an era of assembly lines, we choose the chisel, the hammer, and the hand.

Generations of Muscle Memory

Our workshop in Rajasthan is not a factory; it is a studio. The artisans who craft your furniture are not merely workers—they are the custodians of a lineage.

Many of our master craftsmen learned the art of 'Intarsia' from their fathers, who learned from theirs. It is a skill of muscle memory, where the hand knows how much pressure to apply to a brittle shell before the mind even calculates it. When you run your hand over an Inlay Craft piece, you are connecting with a living history that spans 500 years.

A wide interior shot of a traditional workshop in India. High ceilings, shafts of light. Artisans are sitting on the floor working on various stages of furniture. Piles of raw wood and tools. The atmosphere is focused and serene. Authentic, gritty luxury. 8K, plastic bottles in the scene, a little bright image with dirt around to make the scene very realistic

Bone Inlay: The Mosaic of Time

The process begins with the ethically sourced bone, which is cleaned, bleached, and cut into intricate shapes—petals, leaves, and geometric shards. These pieces are often no larger than a coin. The artisan carves a negative space into the solid wood frame and places each bone fragment with tweezers. Once the pattern is complete, colored resin is poured to fill the voids, binding the design forever.

Mother of Pearl: Harvesting Light

Working with Mother of Pearl (MOP) is an exercise in restraint. The shell is incredibly hard yet brittle. It must be ground flat, shaped by hand-cranked grinding wheels, and polished until the 'fire'—that signature rainbow iridescence—reveals itself. We use high-grade shell sourced from sustainable fisheries, ensuring a luster that mimics the depth of the ocean.

Silver Cladding: Royal Armor

Silver Cladding, or 'Thakkar' work, creates a piece of furniture that feels like royalty. Sheets of German Silver or White Metal are hand-hammered over a carved wooden frame. The artisan uses a small tack hammer to mold the metal over the intricate floral carvings underneath, creating a repoussé effect. The result is a piece that gleams with a textured, liquid-metal finish.

Resin Art: Liquid Colour

Resin is the modern binder that brings the traditional inlay to life. We use a high-grade, UV-resistant polymer that can be tinted to any Pantone shade. It is poured in a liquid state, flowing around the bone or shell, and then sanded down until it is flush with the inlay. This creates the smooth, seamless surface that defines our modern collection.

Perfectly Imperfect

Because our furniture is made by hand, no two pieces are identical. A slight variation in the bone tone, a microscopic difference in the carving—these are not flaws. They are the signature of the artisan.
